You Get One Chance To Live Life Loud

2015 has begun. Today, I spent the first day of this new year at Barnes & Noble doing one final revision of my new book that will be released in late January-beginning of February! 2014 was an incredible year – the success of my dissertation, my 3.2 GPA for the first semester, landing myself all over Connecticut with a great group of friends in a successful band, the success of my radio show – not many 19 years olds can say they are successful. The year was completely filled with joy, excitement and energy. Everyone and everything was enthusiastic, energetic, excellent and intense! I could not have asked for a better 2014. This year will be one that will define my life. It is no secret that I love what I do – that is correct, I love what I do. I love writing, publishing, educating people, playing music and God knows what else! After all, in reality it is just what I like to do. I am one of the few, the lucky few, who wakes up every day LOVING what they do and their part in this world. Some might call this naïve, while others would call it downright silly. To the naysayers, I just shrug and tell them that I am happy, blessed and humbled. Are you? Do not be fooled; however– I do have a life off the stage, behind the computer from writing, away from the classrooms, away from everything. I CHOOSE to engage in that part of my life with just as much abandonment as I do my professional life. Apathy is not an option for me. I do not know, nor understand the definition of the word ‘moderation’ either (as I blogged about it a while back). I remember last summer, a parent of a great student I had summed up the “passage” she was about to experience incredibly well (from her kid taking swimming lessons with me). She never called watching her kid successfully swim to the dock and back “the other side.” She could not have said it better, and with her permission, I share it here for you. It is NOT about being 100% devoted to everything you do, or I do. It is, however, about not going through life with an apathetic attitude. It is not neglecting other things. For it is about making a commitment to something and giving it your all. THAT is the lesson of life. THAT is the lesson I wish I could get every person on this earth to truly understand. Live your life loud, like me. You only get one chance to do so. Let us make 2015 – better yet, let us make every year our best! Now, time to get ready to publish this book and work on my health to start off the new year (because everyone knows that it is lacking! LOL).
